"Outlander" season one ended on a positive note despite its penultimate episode being one full of dark, awful scenes between Jamie Fraser and Black Jack Randall. Despite the scenes from "Wentworth Prison" and "To Ransom A Man's Soul" being one of the most painful scenes on TV, Scottish actor Sam Heughan thought that playing the scene was a 'gift.'

"Outlander" season 1 aired one of the most painful scenes on the history of television. While the torture scene that took place between Jamie and Black Jack were pretty much painful for most viewers to see, what was more notable was their portrayal of such hard scene to depict in front of the cameras.

Sam Heughan, who plays the role of Jamie Fraser in the adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's eight-book series, revealed his thoughts on filming the torture scenes between his character and Tobias Menzies' Black Jack.

"It's a gift for an actor to play. It's something I relished, and I know Tobias did as well," Heughan told Zap2It.

The 35-year-old Scottish actor also called the scene as "some of the most challenging, rewarding yet intense work I've ever done." Heughan recounted that shooting such scenes for the Starz series was "intense," as he had to wake up at 4 a.m. and get the prosthetics team perform their magic on him for four hours. The actor would then shoot scenes for 12-14 hours and spend an entire hour taking off the prosthetics from his body.

Showrunner Moore applauded Heughan for his performance while filming the rape scene with Menzies. Moore said that what Heughan did to properly convey the scene to the audience was "remarkable."

Meanwhile, filming for Outlander Season 2 has already begun. The upcoming season will cover Diana Gabaldon's second book in the series, "Dragonfly in Amber."

Stanley Weber and Robert Cavanah will be joining the cast for season two. Weber will be playing the role of Le Comte St. Germain, who will play as one of the villains in season two, as Jamie and Claire head to Paris in an attempt to stop the Battle of Culloden from taking place. Cavanah will be playing as Jamie's cousin, Jared Fraser.
