Fans of the massively multiplayer online first-person shooting game PlanetSide 2 can now start their adventures on the Playstation 4 when the game officially launches on the console on June 23. News of the game finally launching on the Playstation 4 has been a long time coming both for the fans and the creators of the game.
The game's developer, Daybreak Game Company, originally planned to launch PlanetSide 2 on the Playstation 4 way back in 2013, according to Polygon. However, several delays between then and the launch date caused the game to originally be moved back to 2014 before it was then delayed again to this year.
The Playstation 4 version of the game is expected to have exclusive features, such as a new map named Koltyr that PC players have never gotten the chance to experience, according to the Playstation Blog. PlanetSide 2 is also expected to be on the receiving end of plenty of updates as well in-game items that will be following soon after its launch. Holiday events and promotions will also be part of the experience of playing the game on the Playstation 4.
Even though the game has endured a near 3-year wait between its announced launch for the Playstation 4 and its actual launch date, it has still managed to develop a devoted following on other platforms.
Ever since the game launched on the PC back in November 2012, it has begun to cultivate a fan base of its own.
PlanetSide 2 even holds the record for the most players in a single online, first-person shooter battle, with the amount of people participating getting all the way up to 1,158, according to Engadget.
PlanetSide 2 will be free to play game when it is officially launched on the Playstation 4. Fans also will not have to worry about getting a Playstation Plus Membership since it will not be required for the game.
