Fantasia Live Action Movie Update: Scriptwriters and Storyline Revealed

By

After witnessing some childhood fairytale characters come to life in the silver screen such as Alice (Alice in Wonderland), Jack (Jack the Giant Slayer), Snow White (Snow White and the Huntsman), and Disney's Maleficent and Cinderella, comes the latest addition of a classic animation live in action: Fantasia: Night on Bald Mountain. Disney has been planning to include this 1940 classic into its line up of live action movie adaptations.

Dark fantasy experts Matt Sazana and Burk Sharpless would be writing the script of the upcoming film based on one of the eight segments of Fantasia titled Night on Bald Mountain. Sazana and Sharpless are also to write the scripts of the upcoming films such as Universal Studio's Dracula Untold coming this October, The Last Witch Hunter being released by October 23, and Gods of Egypt which would come out on 2016. Night on Bald Mountain's original soundtrack was made by Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky and was arranged by Leopold Stokowski. Its original sequence was prepared by Vladimir Tytla which turned out to be one of the longest shots ever produced in a multiplane camera.

The film will be an adaptation of an 11-minute segment of the iconic musical, Fantasia. The story revolves around a demonic character named Chernabog, a gigantic gargoyle who stays on top of the bald mountain. As night falls, he would awaken, spread his monstrous wings, and bring the undead back to life and all would keep dancing through music all night until the break of dawn. Recently, Disney has been covertly inserting details to the character of Chernabog. He appeared as a misunderstood demon who is afraid of the dark in an episode of House of Mouse, as a terrifying demon in Once Upon a Time, and as a boss character in the videogame Kingdom Hearts.

Despite its main character being regarded as an "un-Disney-like" character, it is reported that the film would be similar to Maleficent which surprisingly yielded $ 758.4 million. Disney's Cinderella followed with another success, earning $531.8 million worldwide. This classic musical is just a part of the corporation's line up oflive action movie adaptations which includes Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016) as a sequel to Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book (2016), a movie about Tinker Bell, and Winnie the Pooh. Reports also tell that Disney has been working on creating live action movies of Dumbo which will be directed by Tim Burton, and another Disney Princess movie, Mulan.

Nevertheless, this animated classic, Disney's Fantasia: Night on Bald Mountain, shall step out of the cartoon world and pop out into a live environment with living characters, bringing the storyline into a whole new level to intertwine the childhood classic within us with the modern style, effects and graphics.
