Sony is rumored to unveil its 1TB Playstation 4 model, as well as a few upcoming games at the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo which is coming up in about two weeks' time.
Out of the box, the largest hard drive configuration of the Playstation 4 is 500GB. The Japanese multinational video game company has since allowed owners to upgrade their hard drives to meet the storage requirements of various video games. On the average, a game can take up as much as 50GB each. With DLCs or new games coming in, it's never enough to have just 500GB.
While swapping out the hard drive will not void the warranty, Sony will not support any other hard drive aside from the standard 5400RPM laptop hard drive.
For those who prefer not to do the do-it-yourself terrabyte hard drive upgrade, the 1TB Playstation 4 model is now the option they could go for.
The 1TB Playstation 4 model is known by its model number CUH-1215B according to leaks posted online regarding Sony's registration with the Federal Communications Commission.
Aside from the storage size, the 1TB Playstation 4 model is also noted to be slightly more power efficient and physically lighter than the current market model. The exact product specifications are as follows:
Max clock frequency: 2.75GHz
Clock frequency: 40Mhz
Operating temp: 5-35C
Power supply: AC 100-240V, 50Hz/60Hz
Size: 375 x 53 x 305mm
Weight: 2.5kg
Meanwhile, a self-proclaimed industry insider using the pseudonym Tidux, who correctly informed gamers in advance of Uncharted 4, recently claimed via Twitter that two games would be announced by Sony at the event and that one of those starts with a "P". Could it be a clue to Parasite Eve's next installment? Like Altus' Persona 5, Parasite Eve is also a Playstation-exclusive game. Many gamers seem to think so.
