Assassin's Creed Syndicate Will Have Better Sub-Quests; Players Allowed to Use In-Game Vehicles

Assassin's Creed Syndicate will have more relevant side quests and let players control in-game vehicles.

"In Assassin's Creed we tend to be very generous with the activities that players can engage in, but one of the things that we need to do to modernize the experience is to make sure that those activities make sense for the players - and this is something that we are working on this year," Ubisoft Quebec creative director Marc-Alexis Cote said in an Official Xbox Magazine interview.

"Every activity that the player will do will make sense in the narrative quest of the protagonist... the goal is to take back London, so all the activities that you will do in the open world will serve that as well as the main storyline," he added.

So in this sense, players can expect the side quests to be more relevant to the main story line compared to previous iterations of the game. Say goodbye to those random sub-missions.

The carriages in Assassin's Creed are not going to be for show only either. Players can use any mode of transportation seen in the game and use them in transporting captives or in hiding themselves.

"Any carriage that the player can see, they can interact with. They can hop on top of boats and trains to manipulate them to their advantage... Vehicles are so intrinsic to the gameplay experience that they will profoundly change the way people play the game," Cote said.

The Assassin's Creed Syndicate is the ninth installment of the series, and is set in the 19th century London Victorian Era with Jacob and Evie Frye as the main characters. Players can expect a new combat system, new weapons, and the return of the grappling hook which is a trademark of sorts for the franchise. It is made for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms. The game was leaked last month, and the developer confirmed its existence back then as Assassin's Creed: Victory.

Ubisoft is having a press conference on 15 June at 3PM US PDT, and is one of the exhibitors at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015 happening in California on 16-18 June. Details about Assassin's Creed Syndicate and other offerings will be formally announced then.
