Nearly a year since the release of its first and only flagship unit dubbed as the "flagship killer," OnePlus will be releasing a successor that will replace the company's only entry to the smartphone business. Allegedly named as the OnePlus Two, it will continue the legacy that started with its predecessor at an initial price tag higher than it sometime this coming July.
As early as late last year, we have already heard a statement coming from OnePlus regarding the successor to its widely popular OnePlus One unit, whose development was still in infancy at the time of being announced. It confirms of the possible release of OnePlus Two sometime between the second or third quarter of this year. As it appears, they are sticking true to the statement with the scheduled release of the said unit coming this July, 2015, as opposed to some rumors claiming it for June.
Rumors are also strong that this upcoming flagship, OnePlus Two, by OnePlus will be priced a little higher than its predecessor for its price tag of 1,999 Yuan or roughly $322 as compared to OnePlus One's $300 price tag for the 16 Gb model, according to Phandroid. Whether there would be a 64 Gb model just like its predecessor did at a price tag of $350 is still not yet known.
In an apparent unique marketing strategy by OnePlus, one marked with restrictions and lesser-than-perceived sales of OnePlus One, getting a copy of OnePlus Two would be on a per invitation only basis. However, it is a move that gives OnePlus better control of production and engagement among consumers.
As for the specifications, OnePlus Two is rumored to feature a 3,300 mAh battery capacity (which is 200 mAh better than OnePlus One), 4 Gb of RAM, a Qualcomm 810 Snapdragon processor, and possible updated version of OnePlus' Oxygen OS.
