“Kong: Skull Island” Update: Legendary Pictures Loses J.K. Simmons & Michael Keaton after Change in Film Schedule

By

Just when Legendary Pictures thought they were going to have three high rising names to carry out the lead roles for "Kong: Skull Island," the change in their production schedule caused two to drop out. Award winning actor J. K. Simmons and reclaimed actor Michael Keaton are no longer part of the monster movie prequel.

According to Deadline, the two actors were already dead set in the heavy scheduling of their project lineups. Especially with their recently acclaimed rises to fame, the two instantly became in demand and any changes in their current contracted projects would mean the declination of another.

In retrospect, the two decided to compromise the Kong project while Marvel actor-Tom Hiddleston remains unfazed over the matter. Legendary will have to seek urgent replacement for the two roles but they claim no further changes in the film schedule will be made.

Legendary initially set the filming of "Kong: Skull Island" during for the Fall season of this year but the cameras are now set to roll at the end of the year. With the entirety of the film's production set to take some obvious time, it's not ultimately surprising that Simmons and Keaton made the choice to disavow their lead roles.

Michael Keaton is set to appear in the religious-drama, "Spotlight" directed by Thomas McCarthy. His voice talent is currently being featured in Illumination's "Minions" and is also filming with John Lee Hancock in "The Founder." J.K. Simmons, on the other hand, is set to appear in the Lorene Scafaria directed narrative-"The Meddler," "The Accountant"-by Gavin O'Connor and will feature his voice talent in "Kung Fu Panda 3."

On the bright side, at least they still have Tom Hiddleston, who seems adherent and loyal despite the filming date alteration. "Kong: Skull Island" has to be one of the most intriguing upcoming films in the plethora of probable blockbuster lineups before the year 2020. It will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts and is based on the screenplay by John Gatins and Max Borenstein. It is slated to open in theaters around late 2017.
