The release of the "Haunted Mansion" movie based on the famous Disneyland attraction is a growing anticipation for fans of the ride. Although there has been no confirmed start of production of the movie, people are rooting for a strong blockbuster formula: Guillermo del Torro as director, plus Ryan Gosling as lead actor. But is it going to happen?

The renowned director in his most recent interview with Collider stated, "All you can do is develop the screenplays, send them in, get a reaction, get the budget, agree or disagree on budget and so forth. Every project goes through the same thing."

Del Toro explained that typically, out of his five movie ideas, only one is sure to happen. The rest are struggling because of various reasons. In the full interview article, the director elaborated how he has to conitnuously "hope and pray" that the majority of his projects reach the big screen.

Del Toro currently juggling a handful of projects, one of which is the upcoming release of "Pacific Rim 2" on August 4, 2017. It also reported that his work in the upcoming "Crimson Peak" could spark Disney's fire to speed up the production of "Haunted Mansion."

In an MTV article, the "Pan's Labyrinth" director shared Gosling's enthusiasm on playing a role in the film as a former Mousketeer. "He is completely a Disney freak," del Toro said. "We collect some of the same stuff. He's specifically a Haunted Mansion freak."

Gosling also confirmed this during an interview with Yahoo! Movies last April, saying that they were already "talking about it. That's my favorite ride. Haunted Mansion is a whole world, it's not just a ride, so I feel like in Guillermo's hands it could be amazing."

"The Notebook" and "Blue Valentine" actor is currently busy in the production of Adam McKay's "The Big Short," together with Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, and Steve Carell.

With Guillermo del Toro's award-winning storytelling and Ryan Gosling's box office charm, the possible "Haunted Mansion" movie could mean a lot of potential for Disney.
