The new Star Wars Battlefront multiplayer mode aptly titled Supremacy has just been released. The new Supremacy mode is an intense, close combat multiplayer mode that pits the Galactic Empire versus the Rebel Alliance scum in a fierce fight for territory and power. The battle gets even more interesting as playable characters Darth Vader and son Luke possess distinctive abilities to rally their team to victory.
Five game modes out of nine have so far been explained by EA, as noted by Attack of the Fanboy. At the recently concluded D23 Expo weekend, Electronic Arts revealed that Star Wars Battlefront will be packed with a total of nine multiplayer game modes. Among the revealed multiplayer modes are Survival Missions which co-ops players with another teammate, the close-quarters deathmatch Blast Mode, and the detailed territory-claiming Supremacy. EA still has plenty of time to reveal the remaining four multiplayer modes in the new Star Wars Battlefront before the game launches in November.
Star Wars Battlefront Supremacy mode calls for two teams vying for conquest in five control points across a selected map. The objective of the game is to gain control of all five of the territories, or at least the majority of them. The game starts off with two territories on each side, with an unmarked central territory that will determine the game advantage. According to EA's release notes, the control points of the territories will be claimed in a set order of two control points, meaning one control point for each team will be vulnerable to attack at a given time. EA emphasizes that players will be pitted at the heat of battle when respawning to prevent "coasting" players at the sidelines. Playable characters such as Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, and Boba Fett feature dynamic abilities great for frontlining the fight to victory.
Star Wars Battlefront lead Multiplayer designer Dennis Brännvall clarifies the game mode even further, as noted by TechTimes since the initial duration of the match is set for ten minutes. There is no mention of a time limit for multiplayer mode Supremacy so long as the two sides continue the struggle to fight for the other's territory. An evenly matched game can last for a long time and while well played battles can be intense and interesting, a longer battle has its own share of struggles like players dropping out mid-game. EA has yet to clarify whether or not players can join in mid-game but fans are hopeful that epic struggles can truly reflect the struggles of the Rebel Alliance against the Galactic Empire.
Star Wars Battlefront is set to release this year on November 14 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC systems through LucasArts.
