According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will get its North American debut next month at the Toronto Film Festival as part of its Midnight Madness feature. New York-based Samuel Goldwyn has also recently acquired the rights for the horror-comedy film with a U.S. debut scheduled on October 9, 2015.

It was also reported by Variety that he film was recently screened at the Cannes Film Festival under the Directors' Fortright Program. Miike's latest project follows a bloodsucking Yakuza boss killed by an enemy clan but before he is extinguished, he passes on his superhuman abilities to a loyal subordinate who vows to avenge his mentor. 'Yakuza Apocalypse' stars Hayato Ichihara as Akira Kageyama, Yayan Ruhian as Kyoken the Mad Dog, Riko Narumi as Kyoko Anan and Lily Franky as Genyo Kamiura.

Miike is best known for his prolific and highly controversial films such as 'Ichi the Killer', 'Dead or Alive', 'Audition', '13 Assassins' and 'Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai'. However, he is also popular for his versatility - jumping from one genre to another.

It was reported by JoBlo that the upcoming film has finally released its official trailer. The English-subtitled trailer featured action-packed scenes of vampires, gangsters, martial arts, and the occasional bloodshed. It all seemed consistent with the Japanese filmmaker's repertoire of R-rated films and may not disappoint numerous waiting fans.

'Yakuza Apocalypse' is an upcoming fantasy-action-thriller soon to make its cinematic debut in big-screens across North America. The film was already released in Japan last June 20, 2015 with its original running title as 'Gokudou Daisensou'.
