The nest installment of the Narnia franchise might come later than 2016. 'Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair' is still writing the script, and the plan of a 2016 release looks grim with the current schedule.
According to Den of Geek, 'Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair' doesn't have too much substantive report on its progress. Aside from the fact that there is a fourth Narnia movie planned this right now, only the book where it will be based on and the plan of releasing it in 2016 are known. However, the 2016 plan seem to be "quite ambitious" with the script still under work.
In another article by Venture Capital Post, the script completion of 'Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair' was announced earlier was apparently just a hoax. The tweet that supposedly belonged to screenwriter David Magee came from a false twitter account, causing a massive misunderstanding. Magee has been working for the bogus accounts to be deleted.
The Crossmap reported that the first 3 movies earned a total of $1.58 billion. The breakdown showed that the first made $745 million back in 2005, the second $420 million in 2008, and the third $415 in 2010. It has been 5 years since the last Narnia movie, posing another problem with the original cast all-grown up and busy with other roles.
The 'Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair'is based on the book of the same title and decades have passed in Narnia after 'The Voyage of the Dawn Treader' while in England it was just a year later. With the seemingly slow progress of 'Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair', fans are doubtful if the next instalment of the franchise will make it by the 2016 planned release. Once the script is done, the production has to worry about its casting, which can be a problem with the cast older and bigger. Scheduling and maybe even re-casting could prove to be a problem to the sequel.
