The all-time favorite ninja turtles are back once again in the upcoming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" with an official release date. Reports of new characters have also started to emerge.
According to Christian Post, Paramount Pictures is set to release the sequel to their 2014 "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" sci-fi comedy film on June 3, 2016. Dave Green (Earth To Echo) will be helming the live-action flick, along with Michael Bay as the producer. The forthcoming franchise started production in April of this year, as the studio aims for a mid-2016 release.
The sequel entitled, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Half Shell" is even reported to be better than the original, as news of a stellar set of characters as well as an iconic super-villain is rumored to make an appearance.
The Gospel Herald reported that the half-shell heroes Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo, and Raphael will face-off against their arch-enemy Shredder. The four ninja turtles will also be joined by unlikely ally, Casey Jones (Stephen Amell), a vigilante whose weapons of mastery are usually sticks, baseball bats, golf clubs, cricket bats and hockey sticks.
Jones is a stealth specialist who's never been caught by the New York Police Department despite having a bizarre appearance. In previous TMNT movies, Casey is a love interest of April O'Neil (Megan Fox), also a crime-buster who swore to protect the streets of New York City.
Movie Pilot, on the other hand, indicated that the villain Shredder will be joined by two dim-witted henchmen - namely, Bebop and Rocksteady. The three are set to create chaos throughout the metropolitan city.
There are also rumors that Krang and Karai, who is Shredder's daughter, will make their on-screen debuts in the upcoming sequel. There were even reports of several extras gathered around a portal in the film's set, thus indicating that Krang is readying his transport to Earth.
The official release date of the sequel "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2," is set on June 3, 2016. There are reports that Casey Jones will be introduced in the movie as the turtles' ally while Shredder will be joined by General Krang as well as his daughter Karai and with his two henchmen Bebop and Rocksteady. With these new characters to emerge in the sequel, fans definitely cannot wait for this movie to land in theaters next year.
