More about the King of Atlantis is set to be revealed in the upcoming Aquaman stand alone film. A new reference to the character was recently revealed in The Flash, while Jason Momoa who is set to star in the titular role says fish jokes might well be held in until the stand alone film hits theaters.
As reported by Latinos Post, the blu-ray version of the TV series The Flash was recently released hinting a possible Aquaman reference. In one scene, Barry Allen can be seen explaining to Detective Joe West why he was late, and stated that he went to Startling City after hearing about a man with super powers, and can bend steel with his bare hands.
Joe West, on the other hand, didn't seem to be convinced with his answer and cited Allen's apparent excuse the month before where he told him he was looking for a man who can talk to fishes in the Amnesty Bay, where Arthur Curry or also known as Aquaman grew up. However, it has not been confirmed yet whether Aquaman will appear anytime soon in the series.
Meanwhile, as reported by Comic Book Movie, Momoa said that his version of Aquaman will focus more on the character's serious side. "I can't see me busting out a bunch of jokes. I mean, I don't think it'll be like that.", Momoa said. Although he also revealed that he won't be destroying anything that is not the villain, "I don't think Aquaman's going to be raping and pillaging any villages", he joked.
Also Momoa cited that fish jokes about the character might be better off left unsaid before the film hits theaters. "You know, it's cute and funny, I mean people make fun of him and there's a bunch of jokes about him. But I'm like 'Well... just wait. Let's just wait a little bit. And then we can make jokes...'", Momoa said.
Details about how Aquaman will enter the Justice League is currently unknown even though he was one of the characters who founded the superhero league. However, according to Movie News Guide, he might appear in the film initially as the surfer who lives by the sea, but will eventually lend a helping hand to the heroes when a seemingly undefeatable enemy arrives.
The Aquaman stand alone film is set to be directed by James Wan from the screenplay by Kurt Johnstad. It is set to hit theaters in July 27, 2018. More details about the upcoming film is expected to be revealed as production progress.
