‘Sinister Six’ to go up against ‘Suicide Squad’? Sony, Marvel deal paves way for better supervillains movie

By

'Sinister Six' was originally thought scrapped along with 'The Amazing Spiderman' 3 and 4, as Sony and Marvel struck a deal for Spidey to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, recent reports have surfaced, saying that the 'Sinister Six' can is more feasible than even now that it has reunited with Marvel.

According to MTV, 'Sinister Six' has so much emphasis to supervillains that it could go against 'Suicide Squad'. With Spiderman's too many villains, it could shake things up more at Marvel. The screenwriter, Drew Goddard, has expressed enthusiasm in making the 'Sinister Six'. In fact, the script for the movie currently in existence is a stand-alone film, that has "nothing to do with continuity" making it "easy to fit anywhere."

Goddard calls it a "breath of fresh air" from continuity and mythology, just like what Guardians of the Galaxy was. A visionary writer-director, Goddard has Cabin in the Woods, Daredevil and most recently, The Martian under his belt.

According to The Guardian, more than just being an answer to 'Suicide Squad', 'Sinister Six' could be an epic Spiderman movie as well, and can serve as a climactic episode for the new Spiderman. With a recasting of Tom Holland as Spiderman and the rebooting of Spidey's story, it makes sense he is not yet the superplayer in world-saving adventures.

As the new Spiderman will start from his earlier adventures, we can expect the new Peter Parker to move beyond the origin story and be treated like how Marvel develops its superheroes. Once the Spiderman has been integrated strongly within the MCU, then Goddard's 'Sinister Six' could come on to show that he's in the Major League now.

Marvel has listed Doctor Octopus, Electro, Vulture, Kraven the Hunter (Sergei Kravinoff), Mysterio (Quentin Beck), Sandman as the original 'Sinister Six'. Eventually, Kraven the Hunter (Alyosha Kravinoff), Mysterio (Daniel Berkhart), Pity, Shocker, Hobgoblin, Venom and Gog as became part of 'Sinister Six' at some points. Beetle and Scorpia even made up the Sinister Seven.

Aside from the 'Sinister Six' expanding the MCU's plethora of villains, it also provides a different platform for their own established villains to explore. As they have said, the deal has them "also exploring opportunities to integrate characters from the MCU into future Spider-Man films." All in all, instead of shelving 'Sinister Six', it has more chances of flourishing and better development now that Spiderman has come back to the Marvel world.
