The new James Bond movie "Spectre" is in a whole other level, as it reportedly blew up £24 million worth of vehicles. Meanwhile, rumor has it that Damian Lewis will replace Daniel Craig as the franchise's Agent 007 if the latter chooses to leave.
According to Comic Book, director Sam Mendes took things to a new extreme level by reportedly blowing up a £24 million worth of high-end vehicles. It was done during an intricate high-speed chase scene filmed at multiple locations: The Vatican, the Colosseum and along the River Tiber.
The publication quoted chief stunt coordinator Gary Powell: "We set the record for smashing up cars on Spectre." Powell even claimed that they "wrecked millions of pounds worth." The shot was done in an entire night for four seconds of film.
Cinema Blend also reported that the "blow-up" summed up to a total of 10 Aston Martin DB10s, all of which were specifically created for the movie. While these were surely expenditures made during the production of "Spectre" movie, it seems that the film's budget had a very special allocation that allowed it to blow such expensive worth. Also, the film outfitted one of the most famous James Bond gadgets - ejector seat, that is.
Sam Mendes is set to direct "Spectre," with Daniel Craig reprising his role as Agent 007 for the fourth time. The forthcoming film will be produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, while screenplay is by John Logan, Neal Purvis, Jez Butterworth and Robert Wade.
Meanwhile, Daily Mail reported that if Daniel Craig leaves, it's Damian Lewis who will be crowned the new Bond. It is reported that the "Spectre" movie will be the former's last. There were also speculations about who might take over the role, with Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender and Idris Elba's names being rumored to be running.
For now, speculations about Damian Lewis replacing franchise icon Daniel Craig as lead actor can rest (or continue running), as the new James Bond movie "Spectre" will hit theatres on November 6th.
