The live-action adaptation of 'Five Nights At Freddy's' is speculated to give some closure to fans of the games that ultimately left players puzzled. Creator Scott Cawthon commented that although people have been able to figure out the pieces in games one through three, the clues in the fourth remain obscure to them. Director Gil Kenan continues to tease followers on social media.
According to Forbes, Cawthon expressed his amazement at how players immediately figured out the clues to the hidden story and lore he left through his first three games. However, he could not say the same for the fourth one that seemed unrelated enough.
He said, "But then I released part 4, and somehow.... no one, not a single person, found the pieces. The story remains completely hidden. I guess most people assumed that I filled the game with random easter eggs this time. I didn't. What's in the box? It's the pieces put together. But the bigger question is- would the community accept it that way? The fact that the pieces have remained elusive this time strikes me as incredible, and special, a fitting conclusion in some ways, and because of that, I've decided that maybe some things are best left forgotten, forever."
The first three games in Cawthon's widely popular series take place in a restaurant while the fourth features a child's bedroom. They all, however, feature several murderous animatronics and attempt to weave together a seemingly intricate and related mythos that would explain the events in all the games.
Several speculations and fan theories have emerged regarding the game's mysterious story as well as the film's possible plot. An article from Moviepilot suggested one specific theory that made an effort to explain the events that may interconnect all the four games in 'Five Nights at Freddy's'. It involved one particular family, some murder, and an eternity of revenge from some very angry spirits.
Director Gil Kenan previously took on Twitter to answer some questions posted by waiting fans regarding the work he would be doing for the big-screen adaptation. It was revealed that Kenan may not be following the events in the games and will instead create a story that hasn't been told before. He did confirm that the film will involve the infamous "bite of '87".
The 38-year old filmmaker continues to drop subtle hints and references of his project that is currently in development on his official Twitter account. He even posted a screen capture from a video surveillance camera that showed a little girl in a party dress holding a balloon. This particular post sent followers to continue speculating over the "bite of '87" that Kenan promised.
'Five Nights At Freddy's' is a planned horror film by Warner Bros. Pictures based on the popular independent point-and-click horror game of the same name. The game features homicidal animatronic animals named Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy but it remains unclear which of them would make it to the film.
