The writers of Empire plotted its second season by pitting the Lyon clan against each other. As they continue warring for the hip-hop empire, Cookie and Lyon will be hell-bent on proving that one of them deserves to take on the coveted role.
Next week’s episode will be a launching pad for Cookie and Lyon’s respective and sneaky agendas. On Cookie’s side, her latest venture to start a new record label will not begin on a pleasant note. According to the episode description released by FOX via The Futon Critic, “Cookie and her cohorts decide to start their own small record label, but it's off to a bumpy start as everyone has different visions for the new label”. While this might present as a challenge for the Lyon matriarch, the arc opens a room for better dynamic among her allies and herself.
Lucious, on the other hand, will tap on his creative side while behind bars. According to the synopsis, the viewers will find the hiphop mogul recording “an epic track from inside jail”. This storyline may offer quite an exciting turn especially when it gets released from the public. How Cookie will react from this new development is definitely not to be missed by the “Empire” fandom.
As seen on the promo released by FOX through Youtube, the heightening levels of hostility between the gritty ex-couple will be felt throughout the hour. This storyline would definitely allow for an amazing performance from onscreen couple, Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard.
Elsewhere, more family drama wil ensue. KSite TV released a gallery of promotional photos, previewing that a serious mother and son talk between Cook.ie and Jamal will also unfold in the upcoming installment. Other highlights of the images include scenes between Lucious and guest star Ludacris inside the prison.
The second week of "Empire" season two will tackle Cookie and Lucious’ strategies as they battle for the family business. Cookie will be busy with her new recording label while the latter will record an epic track behind bars. The episode is titled “Without a Country”.
