Last May, Lionsgate has announced that a sequel movie franchise to John Wick will be produced. And just recently, Thunder Road revealed that "John Wick 2" will start filming.
"John Wick 2" will have Keanu Reeves back to reprise his role alongside the movie directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski and Derek Kolstad to be the scriptwriter. Coming Soon confirmed that the production will start this autumn. According to the Lionsgate President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions, the sequel movie will have so much more stories left to tell. "With such tremendous fan and critical support for 'John Wick,' we knew that there was still so much more of this story to tell," he said.
He also assured that the second installment will be much better than the first movie. "We are thrilled that Keanu, David and Chad have re-teamed with us and promise to bring audiences even more excitement the second time around."
Collider reported that Stahelski and Leitch were drafting the film since February. As it came out, "John Wick 2" will have more story, characters and action to fill the excitement. Stahelski promised that the film will be the story that will satisfy the audiences' expectations as much as it was in the first movie as well as the characters that will be joining. They promised that it "will be awesome".
With a budget of $20 million, "John Wick' earned a total of $78 million worldwide. Entertainment Weekly insisted that the movie impressed the fans and the critics with the amazing cinematography, visuals and choreography. But overall, Reeves was commended in his outstanding performance.
Although the storyline is being kept concealed, rumors say that the story will be a back story of how Wick and Marcus (William Dafoe) are related and how they became friends. However, sources say it will be a spin-off of the first revenge and redemption movie.
No matter what the story would be, the team promised that the movie won't fail the moviegoers. Are you excited to see the Bogeyman again?
