HTC has just announced its latest smartphone, the HTC Butterfly 3. It is a rebranded version of the HTC J Butterfly that was exclusively available to the Japanese market. However, it will most probably be Taiwan-exclusive and not meant for global release.
Jeff Gordon, HTC's Senior Global Online Communications Manager, has posted in his personal Twitter account that the HTC Butterfly 3 will only be available in Taiwan and it is not for global distribution. More so, the HTC J Butterfly will continue to remain Japan-only exclusive. This news might just sadden those who live outside Taiwan and are eyeing for this device.
The HTC Butterfly 3 smartphone comes with decent features and specifications just like its flagship smartphones. It sports a 5.2-inch screen with Quad HD 1440 by 2560 pixel resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 2,700mAh battery, Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system with Sense 7 on top, and it offers a pixel dense experience with 565ppi.
Its 20.2-megapixel rear camera has duo setup that allows post-shot autofocusing, 4K video recording, and a few other creative effects, while its 13-megapixel front snapper has a BSI sensor that can shoot videos up to 1080 pixel. Additionally, the Butterfly 3 includes a 32GB internal storage expandable up to 2TB through microSD as well as water and dust-proofing features with an IP 57 level.
According to HTC's specification sheet, the smartphone measures 150.99 by 72.99 by 9.99mm and weighs 161 grams. However, Butterfly 3's design is a bit more standard. It actually lacks the metal constructions of flagships by HTC; nonetheless it carries a familiar overall design language the company has been dealing with for quite some time.
On the whole, the HTC Butterfly 3 is one great and innovative smartphone that will bring another success to the Taiwanese electronics company. The device will be priced at $600 and be launched on October 20 in Taiwan.
