As long as everything goes accordingly, "Kingsman 2" will commence shooting this spring. However, one roadblock that Fox has to deal with is Taron Egerton who has reportedly become a commodity in the film industry, following his appearance in the original film.
Den of Geek reported that Fox is tentatively planning an April 2016 start date for shooting on "Kingsman 2." It is worth noting that director Matthew Vaughn is already writing the script for the sequel, something that he didn't do for "Kick-Ass 2" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Also, Vaughn has insisted that unlike any other sequels, "Kingsman: The Secret Service" gives him a legitimate interest to create a continuation of the story of Eggsy, who is the central character played by Taron Egerton.
As for actor Taron Egerton, it seems that things are a bit murky for him. According to Movie Web, after the release of "Kingsman: The Secret Service" earlier this year, actor Egerton has become a hot commodity in Hollywood. In fact, some of the biggest studios are after him, as they hope to have him for quite a few high priority projects.
The publication added that the 25-year-old Welsh actor is set to take the lead in "Robin Hood: Origins," a film courtesy of Lionsgate. The said movie is about to start shooting in February and won't likely wrap by the time Fox decides to start production on "Kingsman 2."
Collider reported that Fox already has a sequel option for Egerton, thus they're the main priority in terms of the actor's time. However, what the studio doesn't have for the time being is the finalized script, so this puts "Robin Hood: Origins" in pre-production. It seems clear that the studios are playing a bit of a tug-of-war over the up-and-coming actor.
So, whether or not "Kingsman 2" is to start filming this spring, Taron Egerton is still a roadblock that Fox has to consider. Besides, the movie is purely nothing without the actor's Eggsy.
