As Google has unveiled their newest operating system, the Nexus 5, 6, 7 (2013) and Nexus 9 are already confirmed to be a few of the devices that will receive the Android Marshamallow upgrade. The said upgrade is expected to bring some enhancements and new features to the aforementioned smartphones.
Neurogadget recently said on its report that one of the good things about owning a Nexus device is that handlers of the handsets will be ones of the first to get and experience the newest Android OS update once it gets released.
Google recently announced that its new Nexus 6P and 5X devices will be the first phones that will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow as they come out of the box. It was revealed that every 1-2 weeks, the Android fans will most likely see the Android M update getting released for other Nexus devices that currently run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
According to Tech Times here are the list of Nexus handsets that will definitely receive the Android M: HTC Nexus 9, Asus Nexus 7 (2013), Motorola Nexus 6, LG Nexus 5 and the Google Nexus Player. On the other hand, it also cited other Nexus devices that won't be able to obtain the update: the Nexus 4 smartphone, Nexus 7 (2012) and the Nexus 10 tablets. But then these devices will remain on Android Lollipop 5.1.1 and will continue to get critical security updates as necessary.
Those devices that were lucky enough to obtain the upgrade will primarily receive it in the form of factory images, which must be flashed to the device. Meanwhile, those who are not comfortable with that process can wait until the updates are officially rolled out to their device over the air (OTA).
Furthermore, CNET cited the two standout enhancements that Android Marshmallow will bring to Nexus handsets, one of which was a better battery life and the other one was contextual search suggestions called Google Now On Tap.
Although it is confirmed that Nexus 5, 6, 7 (2013) and Nexus 9 will have this update, users of these devices still has to wait as the process of updating goes slowly but surely. However, Google assures that it is worth the wait as the newest operating system brings improvements and developments to the gadgets.
