Renee Zelwegger is back to being Bridget Jones after fourteen years of its last appearance in 2004 "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason." Zelwegger who started with the role in the original "Bridget Jones Diary" in 2001 will reprise her role in the third installment of the trilogy called "Bridget Jones' Baby."
Working Title Films, the production studio behind the trilogy has recently released the film's first ever promotional image. In the still, Zelwegger as Bridget Jones is hugging an iPad instead of her legendary diary looking genuinely happy. Universal Pictures tweeted the photo confirming that the film has started shooting in London this week.
The Academy Award winner actress who has portrayed iconic roles like Roxie Hart in "Chicago" and Ruby in "Cold Mountain" has been doubted by fans that she will successfully reclaim her memorable role after she created headlines when she attended ELLE's 21st annual Women In Hollywood Awards looking particularly different from her natural look.
However, the distrust of fans are coming to cease with how Zelwegger was seen in the start of production of the movie looking as natural as her old Bridget Jones self. In the original Bridget Jones, The now 46 year old actress prominently put on 30lbs to take the part of the endearing Bridget, but with her leaner body at the present, her weight had been able to fake with a prosthetic bump for the "Bridget Jones' Baby."
Colin Firth will be reprising his role as Bridget's love interest, Mark Darcy, but the cheating Daniel Cleaver played by Hugh Grant is reportedly not coming back. During the shoot, Zelwegger was seen with Sally Philips who plays the role of her bestfriend Shazza. Together with the two actresses is the "Grey's Anatomy" alum Patrick Dempsey who is rumored to play Bridget's new love.
Reports say that the first scene was shot during an Ed Sheeran concert in Dublin with Bridget sitting on a mystery man's shoulder. The scene, however, was shot with Zelwegger's stunt double to avoid causing notion.
Sharon Maguire who directed the original Bridget Jones's Diary in 2001 will be back to helm the third movie. "Bridget Jones' Baby" is expected to hit the theaters on September 16, 2016.
