To stir up the fans' excitement for "John Wick 2", the franchise's lead actor, Keanu Reeves, spilled a few details about the film. According to him, the follow-up movie is having a world-expansion, with two essential characters at play.
In an interview with Collider, actor Keanu Reeve's revealed details about the forthcoming "John Wick 2." He described the movie as a bit of a struggle to find the identity between his character, John, and his legacy as the infamous assassin. Reeves explained that "there's John Wick and there's John."
The latter, as he defined, is a "married guy whose wife just died, and that five years of his life." John Wick, on the other hand, is "the mythical assassin." The actor went on to say that "John Wick's past comes and infiltrates John's life and John Wick, in a way, has to fight for John."
It is safe to say that going into the life of the film's lead character is the right direction for the sequel. Cinema Blend explained that it would be quite difficult to replicate the mishaps of the first film - the crime that wakes John out of his retirement and pushes him back to the killer he was; thus it's better to present the sequel in much different perspective.
Of all the scenes in the first film, the one that surely pique the interest of every moviegoer was the introduction of the Continental. It is an elite hotel that services some shady assassin clientele, such as Ms. Perkins (Adrianne Palicki) and the hotel manager (Lance Reddick).
According to Screen Rush, "John Wick 2" will have a plot that tries to showcase more of Wick's character. The publication quoted Reeves saying: "Chad and the writer, Derek Kolstad, they've really listened to what people have enjoyed about the work and how they speak about it." The actor also admitted that he's "learning some other tools and different styles" of martial arts, as he is "trying to develop some more techniques in terms of judo and jiu-jitsu."
"John Wick 2" will start production later this year and aims for a 2017 release date. But as long as the world-expansion and plot details that Keanu Reeves mentioned are delivered accordingly, the franchise will once-again reach greater heights.
