"Ghostbusters" Reboot Update: Rick Moranis Rejects Film, Says 'It Made No Sense' To Him

The upcoming all-female "Ghostbusters" reboot is a complete overhaul as almost all of the living stars from the original 1980s films is expected to do cameos. However, one notable absentee is Rick Moranis, who reportedly admitted turning down the new franchise because it made no sense to him.

It is confirmed that Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver and Ernie Hudson are returning to the forthcoming "Ghostbusters" reboot, as each of them tries to take cameo roles. But, as reported by Rolling Stone, Rick Moranis, known for playing Louis Tully in the original movie, will not be appearing the said film; The uproar over his absence has earned buzz online that he had to reveal his reasons for not joining.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Moranis said: "I wish them well. I hope it's terrific." He went on saying, "But it just makes no sense to me. Why would I do just one day of shooting on something I did 30 years ago." Contrary to the popular belief, the 62-year-old actor is not retired; however, he did take an 18-year hiatus after her wife, Ann, died from breast cancer in 1997 to focus on raising his two young children.

Reports say that with his children growing up, Moranis might once again consider reappearing in Hollywood flicks. However, the "Ghostbusters" reboot reportedly wasn't the right one to make his comeback.

According to A.V. Club, aside from confirming that the said film doesn't appeal to Moranis, the actor explained: "I'm happy with the things I said yes to, and I'm very happy with the many things I've said no to." He also admitted being "picky" and that he'll "continue to be picky," as being "picky has worked for me."

"Ghostbusters" reboot will star Kristen Wiig as Erin Gilbert, Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzman, Melissa McCarthy as Abby Yates and Leslie Jones as Patty Tolan. With numerous cameos in store for the viewers, the upcoming reboot is slated to open in cinemas July 15, next year.
