Although it will not be the end of MCU, Kevin Feige revealed that Avengers: Infinity War will bring changes to the hero assembly. He also revealed that phase 3 films will definitely reveal the final 2 stones that are yet to be introduced in the MCU.
Though it is currently years away from hitting the big screen much anticipation has been circling around the film, and as reported by Movie Web, phase 3 which will end with the Infinity War films but will not be the end for MCU.
"Phase Three is definitely an end to some version of the team we've come to know as The Avengers. The team will always be evolving. The roster is always changing. You may pick up an Avengers book ten years later and not recognize the people on the cover. It's not going to be the end of the Marvel cinematic universe, certainly, but it will be an end to part of it", Feige revealed.
According to International Business Times, Marvel Studios' Jeremy Latcham said that this change in the team was in fact hinted in the previous Avengers: Age of Ultron. Although Latcham did not specify which parts of the film indicated the abovementioned hints, speculations suggest that Hawkeye and Iron Man's return to their loved ones could be some of it.
Meanwhile, Movie Pilot reported that Captain America, Thor, and Star Lord could be the characters that Marvel fans should watch out for in phase 3. According to the trade, in Marvel: Civil War comic book, Captain America was killed by Crossbones and Agent 13 who are both set to appear in the forthcoming Captain America: Civil War film. This could also be a premonition of his death in the MCU and being the leader of the team, his death subsequently could affect the Avengers' in their fight against Thanos.
Also, in the deleted scene in the Age of Ultron, it was explained how Thor found out about the six Inifinity stones which was also the cause of his return to Asgard. Aside from that, it was also previously revealed that the second part of the Infinity Gaulet is also being kept in the Asgard weapon vault.
Star-Lord is also another character that fans should reportedly keep an eye on Avengers Infinity War as his Spartoi blood could be a positive factor in the war against Thanos. Star-Lord is the son of the Emperor of Spartoi and the human Meredith Quill, and in one of the scenes from Guardians of the Galaxy, it was shown that Star-Lord was able to hold the Power Stone within a restricted amount of time without being vaporised, thus he could be an assett in the upcoming war.
The Infinity Gauntlet was last seen in the possession of Thanos, and while Space Stone, Reality Stone, Power Stone, and Mind Stone have been revealed previously in the MCU, Feige revealed that both Soul and Time Stones will soon be revealed in the phase 3 films.
Feige is set to produce Avengers: infinity War Part 1 which will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. It is set to hit theaters in May 04, 2018.
