‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Half Shell’ Release Date Official: Set Photos Reveal New Characters, General Krang As Main Villain?

By

'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Half Shell' is a planned follow-up to 2014's live-action adaptation to the popular animated characters of the same name. Megan Fox and the rest of the cast are revealed in new photos from the filming set. General Krang is also reported to be the sequel's main villain.

New photographs emerged from the set of the upcoming second installment in reboot of the superhero film series featuring fresh new characters as well as familiar ones. The images posted on Moviepilot featured the first look at Stephen Amell as the mask wearing vigilante Casey Jones, Gary Williams and wrestler Stephen "Sheamus" Farrelly as antagonistic duo Beebop and Rocksteady, Tyler Perry as Baxter Stockman, and Brian Tee as the new Shredder. Another image showed Megan Fox's April O'Neil getting flirty with Alan Ritchson's Raphael.

It was also reported that Judith Hoag, the actress who played April in the 1990 film, would make a cameo in a yet-unknown role. According to ComicBook.com, it was heavily speculated that the infamous General Krang may finally appear in 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Half Shell'. The megalomaniac supervillain is depicted as a disembodied brain who allies himself with The Shredder for the purpose of taking over planet Earth.

Krang began as a powerful warlord in Dimension X who led armies of Rock Soldiers. An incident caused him to be stripped of his complete physical form to be reduced to a brain-like entity, which also resulted in his exile from Dimension X to Earth. It was in this time that he eventually joined forces with Shredder, who needed him to defeat the Turtles, and procured a new android body to complete his tyrannical desires.

According to International Business Times, since he is one of the main antagonists in the series, he may make it to the big-screen in CGI form. However, producer Michael Bay has yet to make an official statement hinting at Krang's introduction into the remakes.

'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Half Shell' is scheduled for a cinematic release on June 3, 2016. It is directed by film and music video director Dave Green with Bay returning as producer. Its predecessor received mostly negative reviews but became Nickelodeon Movies' highest grossing films to date.
