Prior to its announcement, this science fiction, futuristic shooter inspired by Tom Clancy's novel, Rainbow Six Siege, is said to have four upcoming DLC expansions to be released at intervals. Included in these expansions are new playable characters which will require a number of hours of gameplay to be unlocked, or may just be purchased for an amount of cash.
Ubisoft announced that the DLC Operators for the game will take 25 hours for each new character to unlock. On the other hand, Videogamer reports that if one is impatient to wait, then one can simply purchase the character for 3.99 Euro. Accordingly, one would be required to play for approximately 200 hours or spend 31.92 Euro in order to unlock all the characters in the expansion. On the other hand, the developers also announced that new maps and modes would be free of charge immediately upon release. Four new maps, additional primary and secondary weapons, and new game modes are reported to come up as expansions until October 2016, with the first pack coming up in January 2016.
The DLC Season Pass would be available for 30 USD while Crossmap reports that those who have purchased a pre-order shall have a 7-day advance exclusive access to new operators. Also included in the Season Pass is a 5% Renown gain and a one-time 600 RC credit allowance. Ubisoft also said that almost everything that a player does could credit a Renown, even losing missions. However, a player can lose Renowns for friendly fire. Furthermore it is also announced that an hour of gameplay could credit a player up to 1,000 Renowns.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Siege installment is known for its brutal gameplay, like a character shall remain dead after being killed in-game, and planning and communication plays a vital role. The HDRoom reports that this new game offers more environmental damage, such as a character's ability to crush through walls which adds unique layers to planning and actual gameplay.
First hinted in Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), it is also the first time that the game shall come to new-gen consoles. Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege is scheduled to release on December 1 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The first DLC expansion shall be released on January of 2016 while the rest of the expansions shall come out until October of 2016.
