The 2014 Moto E model of Motorola remains uncertain to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software as it was not included in the list of the Taiwanese giant for its upgrade plans. While its fellow devices in Moto G, Moto X and DROID lineups have been confirmed, absence of the device might only mean it is not on the priority list of Motorola and will still be able to get the upgrade.
Motorola has kept mum regarding the release of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow build to the 2014 Moto E device whether or not the software will hit it. This brought hullaballoo in the tech department last October and continued to be in the hot seat almost two months after.
According to earlier reports, the model might have just been left behind for the upgrade because per its specs, the device can qualify for the new software. Considering the qualification of the 2014 versions of Moto G, Moto X, Moto X Pure Edition and Moto X Style ready to upgrade, it is not far from possibility the 2014 Moto E model too will get the same upgrade.
However, there has been no closure yet from Motorola so everything remains to be a speculation. Just recently, David Schuster, Motorola President, has shared in its Google+ account last November 12 that full deployment of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow is set to be rolled out "in the next few weeks" to the 2015 Moto X Pure Edition and 2014 Moto G models.
Meanwhile, both locked and unlocked or retail versions of the 2014 Moto E device are currently running on Android 5.0 Lollipop. This might also be one factor to be considered why the device's upgrade to Marshmallow lags behind since it might still get a taste of the Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes with innovative new features like Doze and improvements in user interface, app drawer, mobile payment Android Pay, app permissions and app links, among many others.
