The Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware update for Motorola's Moto G 2014 model is now rolling out to its handset users.
When Lollipop was launched, the Moto G was one of the first smartphones to receive its update, and this time around it's one of the first few to receive the new version of the Android operating system since Marshmallow's release last September, says Christian Today.
The jump that the Moto G did is a big one as it currently runs on Android 5.0.2, thus users should be ready to encounter a few bugs and problems in the first few versions. However, it won't be long until users can enjoy the Android Marshmallow on the Motorola 2014 flagship handset version, and will get all the new features that come along with it, including the famous Doze mode, that will improve battery life, Google Now on Tap, Android Pay and more.
The official release of the Marshmallow firmware update was first announced on November 25, but NYSE Post states that users are only starting to see reports of the software release today.
According to GSM Arena, Motorola's Moto G was first released in 2013, but the following year it released another version, which is the edition reported to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. The 2nd generation of the Moto G packs a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and 294 ppi pixel density. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protects the phone's surface and handsets are available in either black or white.
The handset is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400 chipset with a Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU. The phone runs on 1 GB or RAM and 8 GB of internal memory, that's expandable via microSD card to 32 GB.
It's 8 megapixel back facing camera carries Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama, autofocus and LED flash. The back facing camera has 2 megapixels.
