Android 6.0 Marshmallow Has Issues with Color Quality

By

Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Google's latest version of their mobile operating system, has been going through some problems with the outcome of colors on some screens.

Various owners who have upgraded their firmware to Android 6.0 Marshmallow or also known as Android M, have reported that the colors of videos and graphics on various devices seem washed out, according to a report by Gadgets NDTV. The problem seems to be in a change of settings in the devices RGB settings as the Marshmallow brings it down from full RGB, whose value resides in the range 0 to 255, to RGB Limited, with range only from 16 to 235.

According to Android Police, some Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P owners are reporting similar issues, which if users will remember, was shipped out with Android 6.0 Marshmallow coming out of the box.

The software, however, is not hardware-related, but is directly linked to the firmware's settings which is good news because that means that it can be repaired in the following updates of Android Marshmallow.

A Google employee has given a direct statement and has promised that Google is currently working on it and a fix will be included in the next update. Phone Arena states that the fix has actually already been developed, and will be rolling out to the LG built Nexus 5X and the Huawei built Nexus 6P very soon. The devices will start showing proper color hues in their displays or in other projections.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow is long awaited by other owners of Android run phones, even through it is far from perfect. Various bugs are being reported, such as the security issues with Stage Fright reported last month.

Marshmallow brings a number of features such as Doze mode, that is reported to improve battery life significantly, improved fingerprint sensors, and a new user interface design. The Android Marshmallow firmware update continues to roll out to Android-based phones.
