Developer CD Projekt RED may just be making a bold move to target an early release of the science fiction role playing game Cyberpunk 2077. According to a very reliable source, the developers plan and wish to launch the date in the latter part of 2016.
As developer CD Projekt RED teased to keep the sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk under the sheets until its release year, it happened that they are confident enough to speak and tease about the anticipated title, according to Latin Post. With the success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the developers are now looking at an even bigger follow-up with Cyberpunk 2077. During an interview with a Polish TV station, CEO Adam Kicinski revealed that they have a lot to look forward to with their plans. The development of Cyberpunk was teased when asked if Witcher 3 is going to be the last of the series. Responding straightly, Kicinski said that the game is not the last and told that it may take a while as they are now preoccupied with Cyberpunk 2077.
Furthermore, Kicinski admitted that the project was even more ambitious that they first planned, as they want to create a game that will even be more successful, as reported by Gamespot. Accordingly, Visual Effects Artist Joel Teixeira said: "Cyberpunk is far bigger than anything else that CD Projekt RED has done before...far, far bigger."
At present, the only official information regarding CD Projekt RED's sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is its PC release. However, Game Reactor also speculated that it is likely that the game might just come out on PS4 and Xbox One platforms as well. The studio, which also brought The Witcher series to the gaming world, says that they have been working on the game based on the pen-and-paper universe of Mike Pondsmith. As the attention on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is coming to an end real soon, the development for Cyberpunk 2077 might just possibly happen soon.
While the official release date is yet to be announced and confirmed, what is certain is that Cyberpunk 2077 is along the line of CD Projekt RED's upcoming projects. Their statements, on the other hand pretty much reflects their confidence that they are to treat the upcoming sci-fi RPG as a serious and huge project.
