‘World War Z 2’ Update: Slate for 2017 Release; New Director and Writer Revealed

"World War Z 2" is back on track and is set to hit the theatres on June 9, 2017. The sequel will also have a new writer and director as Paramount said.

Brad Pitt will be returning in the movie as Gerry Lane. According to Christian Post, "World War Z 2" will have J.A. Bayona, the Spanish film, director best known for his work in "The Orphanage" and "The Impossible, as their new director. It will also have British writer Dennis Kelly, famous for writing "Utopia" will be penning the upcoming sequel. They also reported that Pitt's company, Plan B Entertainment, and Skydance Productions is said to co-produce the movie.

Regarding the plot of the movie, nothing is made out of the public yet. There are rumors, as Vine Report said, the movie may not continue where the first film left off. However, it will try to incorporate more stories and scenes from the novel written by Max Brooks, entitled "World War Z," where the first movie was adapted from. But rest assured fans will be able to witness this zombie movie sequel will be just as, if not more, action-packed as the first one.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Kelly will continue what Steven Knight, the writer of the first movie, left with an earlier draft of the film. Steven Knight said in an interview that he incorporated some things he liked in the first movie. He added that he really like the non-stop action of the first film. As to whether what he drafted will still be in the film is up to the new writer and Paramount.

Even though the first movie which was released in 2013 earned a whopping $540 million globally,it has encountered different obstacles and detours. Paramount is hoping this sequel will not bump into those problems and difficulties again. we just have to wait and see what will happen in the future.
