'NCIS' Season 12 to welcome 'Revenge' star Stephanie Jacobsen as an FBI agent: Will she repair Tony’s broken heart?

By

Former 'Revenge' star Stephanie Jacobsen has landed a role on 'NCIS" as FBI Special Agent Leia Pendergast. Jacobsen, who was also seen on "Revenge" and "Melrose Place," will be playing a federal agent who is reportedly a potential love interest for Agent Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) in a case involving international terrorists,.

Entertainment Weekly describes Leia's character as armed but feminine, sexy and single, cool and confident. According to her character bio, she was a former US Marshall before joining the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force. Leia is expected to be very flirtatious while charming everyone with her sense of humor. In addition to that, she is said to be a sharp shooter and is capable of knocking down doors and egos.

As for reports about Jacobsen's role as a love interest for DiNozzo, NCIS boss Gary Glasberg told TVLine that the protagonist is expected to move on from a broken heart after Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) left. Galsberg said, "We'll be mature about it and handle it properly, and Michael's excited about it."

Meanwhile, some Ziva loyalists are still upset about her departure, and this somehow will have some impact on how the people will receive the new tandem. On the other hand, it could be recalled that de Pablo has left the show since last year, which could mean light years in fictional television. Still, fans are very supportive of Cote de Pablo's decision to move out, and the actress never failed to express her gratitude to the fans.

In a report by TVGuide, she said in a 2013 interview about her fan's support, and was quoted as saying, "I was incredibly moved by the blind support people had without ever getting reasons as to why I left. People trusted that what I was doing was what I needed to do, and that's unconditional love from people who don't even know me. That's been the most beautiful thing out of this process."

As for her reason for leaving the show, she said that it was personal and refused to say much about it. On the other hand, Cindy Elavsky, citing the actress during an interview with TVGuide magazine, that she might return as her character was not killed off in the series.

NCIS returns on Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. Jacobsen will first appear in an episode slated for October.
