After its launching last year in the Google I/O 2013, Android KitKat, is now facing what is next in line for the world-dominating Android OS. Android most recent version, v4.4 Kitkat is now updated to version 5.0 L, or as aptly dubbed (as based on android's preference for sweets); Android Lollipop.
Having been granted access only for developers owning the most recent Google's (in partnership with LG) flagships (nexus devices 5, and 7) since last June 26, Android L since, has started to extend their updates to the mainstream market flagships for the smartphone manufacturing giants. The first to be granted the update, was one of the two korean OEM's - LG, as per engadget.com.
LG has announced that it has started rolling out Android's latest software upgrade to G3 users in Poland this week, beating all of the other android OS based smartphone manufacturers (including Samsung, Motorola, and the LG-made Nexus 5 and 4) to the punch.
Albeit only coming in next to LG in releasing the Android update, according to a report by techradar, other mainstream smartphone manufacturing competitors; HTC, Motorola and even the market disrupting OnePlus, has also shown interest in rolling out the update for their respective flagship devices ( One M8 and M7 for HTC, Motorola's Moto X and G, and OnePlus' One).
While HTC has reportedly announced their official update release within 90 days from receiving final software from Google, Motorola has already gone to conduct their "soak tests" through OTA updates for the Moto X.
According to reports from techtimes.com - Samsung, one of the two Korean smartphone-manufacturing giants has also announced update plans for their flagships including the Galaxy S5. The Galaxy Note 3 should expect to receive Android 5.0 in early 2015. The Note 4, and the upcoming Note Edge which will be released by AT&T on Nov. 7 and Sprint and T-Mobile on Nov. 14 is also going to get the freshest version of Android.
Android 5.0 'Lollipop' is the most significant update to Android since Google's transition from Android 3.2 Honeycomb to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in 2011, as per tech times.
