"Mortal Kombat X" Update: Game Adds Ermac as New Character Revealed; Detail Unveiled for All Three Variations — Flying, Invisibility and Telekinesis

By

NetherRealms Studios is really trying to get people pumped for their latest "Mortal Kombat" game, "Mortal Kombat X." This week, they've already revealed one new character for the game- Reptile, who popped up in a trailer, where he melted and crushed Kung Lao's face in a bloody battle.

Now, NetherRealms has another character ready to unveil to the world: Ermac.

NetherRealms debuted the character on a Twitch stream, showing off some footage of the character fighting Kung Lao (man, Kung Lao really doesn't get a break, does he?). Although Ermac shouldn't be too much of a surprise for hardcore "Mortal Kombat" followers, as concept art of the character was debuted back when the game was still early in development.

Further explanation from NetherRealms gives us new details on the different Variations in the game- that is, different versions of each fighter that give that character a different playstyle. For Ermac, there are three Variations- Master of Souls, Mystic and Spectral.

Master of Souls can dissappear and become completely invisible. Mystic gives Ermac a boost in push attacks, grab attacks and telekinesis, making it far easier for him to string up huge combos. With the Spectral Variation, Ermac cannot hover- but he can fly, which allows him a huge advantage in combat (and the ability to easily teleport behind your opponent).

As well, characters will have multiple fatalities- something that was confirmed when the fatality Ermac used in his reveal trailer was different from the fatality seen in the actual gameplay footage.

Get used to this glut of "Mortal Kombat X" info. According to Shack News, as the game's release date moves closer and closer to us ("Mortal Kombat X" is set for an April 14, 2015 release date), NetherRealms will be introducing more and more new and returning characters to build hype for the game. Works for us- the more gory fatalities, the better.
