"Halo Online" modders were in hot waters this week a Microsoft warned them to take down the playable mod as they were also issued a copyright notice. On the other hand, Microsoft also made a statement as to why the game was designed solely for a Russian release.
The "Halo Online" modders may have been too successful at making a mod for that a game, subsequent to the beta version's exclusive release in Russia. Since the March announcement that the "Halo Online" beta would be released on PC and would be exclusively be for the Russian gaming market, modders had already created a workable mod for the game, based on a report from Realty Today.
In fact, the modders released an intial footage of "Halo Online" over YouTube, which was later taken down after Microsoft issued a copyright notice. Apart from that, Microsoft made a statement regarding mod for "Halo Online;" they said that "While we're thrilled there's so much interest outside of Russia, the beta of Halo Online is a PC experience tailored specifically for the tastes, tech and infrastructure of the Russian market and furthermore, is still in an early state. As such, we want to ensure a quality experience for our beta participants within Russia which could be impacted through unauthorized use," based on a report from Gamespot.
Meanwhile, the mod team, El Dorito, said that "Halo" gamers had been requesting for a PC version of the game since the launch of "Halo 3." That was El Dorito's inspiration in making a game mod for "Halo" after getting that chance, when they learned that "Halo Online" would be created using a modified version of Halo 3's engine.
Apart from the game mod for "Halo Online," some gaming enthusiasts had also been wondering why the title was exclusively released for Russia. One of the reasons cited by gaming enthusiast on why Microsoft released "Halo Online" on PC for Russia was because of the upcoming release of "Halo 5: Guardians" on Xbox One by October, based on a report from Twinfinite.
At the moment there's still no word whether Microsoft would change its mind on expanding the horizon for "Halo Online." On the other hand, it's certain that hardcore fans would soon be getting their hands on "Halo 5: Guardians" on Xbox One by fall this year.
