"Outlander" Season 2 will be covering Diana Gabaldon's second book, "Dragonfly in Amber" from her current eight-book series. While fans of the Starz time traveler series are already anticipating for the second season, showrunner Ron Moore hinted that the upcoming season will be different.
"There will be twists and turns that aren't in the book. The second book is more complex than the first book is. It's a little tougher challenge to adapt it," Moore told Deadline.
The showrunner also revealed that "Outlander" Season 2 will be different in a way that Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will "try to change history," as they attempt to stop the Battle of Culloden from taking place. Moore also shared that the cast and crew have begun filming for the upcoming season three weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Sam Heughan revealed to E! News that "Outlander" Season 2 will show key changes between his character and Claire, as they try to get over the events from Season 1.
"I don't think it's ever going to be the same again... And obviously they have to fight even harder to get together, but it's not about escaping the British or escaping Wentworth. It's more of a mental fight and a psychological one," the 35-year-old actor said.
The Scottish actor also revealed that the events in France for "Outlander" Season 2 will definitely make Jamie and Claire's relationship even stronger than before.
"Outlander" Season 2 will see the return of Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, and Tobias Menzies. They will be joined by new cast members including Audrey Brisson as Sister Angelique, Robert Cavanah as Jared Fraser and Stanley Weber as Le Comte St. Germain.
