'Sicario' Update: Female FBI Agents inspire Emily Blunt to play the role as Kate

Before "Sicario" hits the big screens on Friday, the cast and crew have talked about their experiences and revealed some details about the latest movie. During the screening, different revelations were unveiled.

During the Toronto International Film Festival, Emily Blunt has had a talk with Entertainment Weekly about her role in the latest movie. Although the movie was an action film, she took the risk of playing an FBI agent who is on a drug-war operation in the borders of U.S. - Mexico. According to her, she was challenged with the reality of how the female law enforcers work with a "superior moral compass".

She met with some female FBI agents in preparation for the role. She got to know further details and experiences about their work and life. "Speaking to these women was really insightful because they were very honest with me," she said, "from what affects their sleep, how the job affects their family, their relationships, their children, their friendships. That was the more internal sort of insight I had into the character."

In an interview on Coming Soon, director Denis Villeneuve said Blunt has the "strength and the ability" to play the role of Kate in "Sicario". He first saw her in "The Young Victoria" with her role as a SWAT team leader. Villeneuve said she was fitted for the role.

Jóhann Jóhannsson, composer, revealed on Collider that the music was based on the intensity of the scenes in the film. The right balance and emotional resonance follow every emotion of the characters.

Aside from Blunt, Benicio del Toro, and Josh Brolin will also be appearing in the movie. Del Toro will be playing the role as Alejandro Gillick and Josh Brolin will be Matt Graver. Victor Garber, Jon Bernthal, Daniel Kaluuya, Jeffrey Donnovan, Raoul Trujillo, Julio Cedillo, Hank Rogerson, Bernardo P. Saracino, Maximiliano Hernández will also be present.

With all the male cast, Blunt seemed to be the only female star present. However, she was inspired with the female cops she talked to. The inspiration lead her to take the role more internally.
