Google Pixel C Tablet To Fight For Top Spot Against Surface Pro 3; Features Detailed

By

Google Pixel C tablet and Microsoft Surface Pro 3 are two hybrid devices that can be used in both slate or tablet mode, or even as a laptop. These gadgets were compared to see if Microsoft's current flagship tablet can withstand Google's latest device.

PCWorld said in its report that the Pixel C and Surface Pro 3 are two comparable devices that offer vastly different experiences. The Surface Pro 3 is a tablet running with the full-fat version of Windows 10, while Google's Pixel C is a slate armored with Android 6.0.

Furthermore, BetaNews made a keen comparison between these two devices. The Pixel C is better fitted for activities such as web browsing, creating and editing documents and spreadsheets. However, this gadget is used less for multimedia like YouTube videos because it will have black bands at the top and bottom due to the more squared aspect ratio.

In comparing these two, the Surface Pro 3 has a 12-inch display with a resolution of 2,160 by 1,440, which gives it a slightly higher aspect ratio of 3:2 -- 1.5, compared to Pixel C's 1:42. As Surface Pro 3 has a bigger screen, it can be used more comfortably as a laptop.

Pixel C is engineered with an Nvidia Tegra X1 processor and 3GB of RAM, which guarantees that it can handle even the most demanding applications on Google Play. On the other hand, Surface Pro 3 is built with a powerful Intel Core processor and RAM configuration, which span from a 1.5 GHz dual-core Core i3 with 4GB of RAM to a 1.7 GHz Core i7 with 8GB of RAM. The x86 processors allow this gadget to run full-fledged Windows programs.

The Pixel C will come in 32GB and 64GB variants while Surface Pro 3 starts with 64GB of storage base and can go all the way up to 512GB of internal storage. Its memory is also expandable via SD cards.

Google Pixel C's Bluetooth-enabled keyboard looks very cramped and it costs quite a bit at $149. Meanwhile, a Type Cover keyboard for Surface Pro 3 is much bigger with its touchpad and is cheaper as it normally costs $129.99.

Tech2 added that the Google Pixel C will come across as the best Android tablet with a detachable keyboard making it even more smarter. However, the Surface Pro 3 seems to go beyond the keyboard functionality and is more focused at substituting traditional laptops.

Even though Google Pixel C tablet hasn't arrived in the market yet, it will surely have a tight competition with Microsoft's Surface Pro 3. Avid fans of the biggest search engine company will need to wait until Pixel C will be finally made available.
