Rinspeed Etos leaked images reveal possible “Car of the Future”; Concept car’s drone might not be good idea?

Leaked images show glimpses of Rinspeed Etos concept sports car, possibly the "Car of the Future". Rinspeed Etos will come with a drone but reports say it might not be a good idea.

According to a report by Run Direct Magazine, two teaser images of the Rinspeed Etos concept car were seen online. The image shows a yellow two-seater sports car with a drone and a rear landing pad.

The Rinspeed Etos concept car is an autonomous mobile capable of artificial intelligence (AI) learning like a virtual personal assistant. Yibada reported that the Rinspeed Etos will have Harman Connected Car technology and an infotainment system similar to Apple's Siri.

Rinspeed CEO Frank Rinderknecht said that future automobiles would incorporate innovative digital technology. "The major and especially the disruptive innovations in future automotive engineering will come from the digital realm," said Rinderknecht.

One of the Rinspeed Etos' unique features includes a drone with its own landing pad located on the back of the car. According to Rinspeed, the drone is capable of picking up a flower bouquet and delivering it to the intended recipient. It could also be used to record and stream a road trip video live.

As fantastic as what Rinspeed makes it to be, the drone might still be not such a good idea as per a report by International Business Times. It was reported that the Rinspeed Etos drone would have a poor battery life considering its size.

Another visible problem is the illegality of drones flying about without the user. The drone should also be fast enough to keep up with the speed of the Etos sports car, which seems impossible according to the report. However, Rinspeed stated that the Etos concept car will be finished in a manner that feels like "magic" and "still completely alien to car designer."

Rinspeed is a Swiss automotive manufacturer known for creating its unique concept cars. Concept cars often have features that do not usually make it to actual production. As such, the Rinspeed Etos is thought to be a concept car that will not be released to consumers in the car market.

The Rinspeed Etos concept car will be unveiled on the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016 in Las Vegas on January 6 to 9, 2016. It will be the first time Rinspeed has launched a concept car outside of its native country.
