'Transformers 5' Update, Spoilers: Will there be A 'G.I. Joe" crossover? Optimus Prime rumored to die with 'Walking Dead,' 'Daredevil' writers on board

With original director Michael Bay on the wheel, "Transformers 5" is on its way for another blockbuster hit in 2016. However, fans are still asking if there will be a "G.I. Joe" crossover and if the movie will be the last one featuring Optimus Prime.

The idea of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Bruce Willis going head-to-head with autobots might actually work, considering that both movie franchises came from Paramount Pictures.

However, in an interview with Total Film last year, "Transformers: Age of Extinction" producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce said that the upcoming "Transformer" movies still have a lot of story to tell.

"I don't think it's in the near future at all. It's not something we talk about either cos you know, there's a lot more story that have been told with both cases," the two said.

There is still no confirmation whether actors Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf will return in the upcoming instalment. However, since Fox is busy with "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2," her reunion with the autobots might not happen.

Steven DeKnight from "Daredevil" and Robert Kirkman from "The Walking Dead" are tasked to scribe for "Transformers 5."

"It was just a room full of brilliant, funny, amazing people," DeKnight said as reported by Movie Pilot. "And we spent two and a half weeks in physically the best writers room I've ever seen in my life. Paramount pulled out all the stops. It was phenomenal! We laughed and joked and told stories and plotted out."

Moreover, the rumored darker "Transformer" movie is also said to kill off Optimus Prime by the hands of Megatron or Galvatron as new characters Ultra Magnus and Unicron might be introduced.

Paramount Pictures International SVP Edward Ryan confirmed that the release date of the fifth instalment to the billion-dollar franchise is on June 24, 2016. According to Cinema Blend, this target date is set to make the movie another July 4 weekend box office success.

If the production is set, Optimus Prime and the rest of team in "Transformers 5" may be bound to fight "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" and "The Mummy" in the global box office on 2016.
