‘Dark Souls 3’ Update: Story, Gameplay, Game Mechanics Unraveled In ‘Dark Souls 3’ Network Stress Test

In the past week, selected Play Station 4 owners have been subjected to a network stress test done for the gameplay of Dark Souls 3. The stress test held have revealed some features of the game such as the storyline, gameplay, and game mechanics which enabled players do a quick review. Hours after the test, tons of videos have surfaced online for Dark Souls fans know what to watch out for when the game has finally been released.

The game revolves around an unnamed Wandering Knight who arrives at a High Wall of Lothric, wherein the undead and some dormant dragons are cluttered in the castles pathways. Then the player makes his way downwards a central plaza wherein a series of mini-boss rounds stand in the hero's way. The stress test did not offer an inventory, which made the testers to salvage items they find in the way. After such tests, Eurogamer echoed fan feedbacks, such as controls being owed to From Software's last work, movements quicker than usual, and judging through the game experience itself, charging through new places without a shield will not get a player far.

In the past week, another Dark Souls 3 gameplay video has been uploaded and the video was reported to be taken during Brasil Game Show 2015. Geek Snack reports that the video showcased the game's many areas and enemies. Another gameplay video had surfaced last month during the Tokyo Game Show. Though the review was in Japanese, dedicated gamers have translated it to English.

On the other note, some fans have also commented that the game really needed such test period, as some players have struggled to get multiplayer features to work. In addition, it is also speculated that the build of the game and the new features that has been showcased has no assurance whether they may make it to the final game or not. Lazy Gamer also pointed out that there have been some Lore references to Dark Souls 3 in Reddit. The game seems to be taking a Bloodborne approach, having a player take the role of an anti-hero in his journey to become the Lord of Cinder.

With tons and tons of gameplay videos surfacing in the web, the game's overall storyline, gameplay and mechanics start to reveal gradually, as more fans and gamers comment and give their verdict. Nevertheless, From Software's Dark Souls 3 shall be released on March 24, 2016 in Japan for PS4 and Xbox One. Western release for PS4, Xbox One and PC follows a month after.
