Bill and Ted 3 Update: Keanu Reeves talks new development concerns; George Carlin's passing seen as one of film's challenges
The hilarious duo of Bill and Ted is set to return for Bill and Ted 3, and Alex Winter revealed that it will be much funnier because of the characters age. Meanwhile, William Sadler and Keanu Reeves revealed the possible hurdles along the sequel's way to the big screen. Alex Winter is hyping up the excitement for the upcoming third sequel and as reported by /Film, Winter said that fans can expect the upcoming film to be more hilarious, “It’s exciting to come back to the characters. The fun thing about them is that they’re ageless. You play them in terms of who they are spiritually." He said. "Their mannerism and physicality are not tied to age. We played them like 9-year-old kids. They still have that quality. The comic potential of that becomes even better as it becomes more discordant. It will be funnier because they’re older.” Winter added. Although the progress in the film's production is currently moving pretty slow, franchise leads Reeves and Winter have long planned to return to reprise their roles, and according to The Hollywood News, William Sadler who played as the Grim Reaper in previous film, is also interested in joining them for another run of comical shenanigans in the big screen. But aside from talking about playing Grim Reaper, Sadler also reportedly revealed that the passing of George Carlin could be one of the biggest problems in creating the plot for the sequel. Carlin played the role of Rufus, who served as the host and guide to Bill and Ted, and was an important character in the duo's adventures. Aside from Carlin's passing, Movie News Guide reported that Reeves also cited the budget as one of the problems in creating the movie. According to Reeves, the sequel's budget is around $150 million, and will make the upcoming movie the most expensive film in the franchise. Problems are reportedly being experienced in terms of funding, given that many years have passed since the previous film, and the franchise' not so popular standing internationally might also be a reason for the financiers' hesitation. Aside from Reeves and Winter no official announcements have been revealed yet pertaining to the film's cast or release date. However, more details are expected to be revealed as production for Bill and Ted 3 progress.
