Fans of the 'Tron' film franchise can be at ease knowing that the upcoming sequel to their favorite science fiction movie series will not end up being thrown out of the window by Disney, according to a recent interview done by Collider with actress Olivia Wilde. (source: Digital Spy)
Wilde portrayed the "Iso" Quorra in 'Tron: Legacy,' which brought her to the attention of the film's fans due to her sweet and childlike nature, yet tremendously ass-kicking fighting skills. Quorra was the last of the "isomorphic alogarithms," a species that naturally occurred in the digital world that Kevin Flynn, the creator of the Grid, had designed. While the movie was not as successful as Disney hoped it to be, with a lot of critics complaining a lack in character development, Wilde's Quorra was one of the redeeming qualities of the film, receiving praise from critics and viewers alike for her portrayal of the character.
Now that it has been revealed that Tron 3 is indeed moving forward, many fans might begin asking which characters would return and how they will be handled this time. 'Tron: Legacy' ended with Sam and Quorra escaping the Grid to the real world, so it is speculated that the next film would feature the latter's adventures in a world beyond what she knew.
When asked about her character in the interview, Wilde stated:
"I love this character of Quorra so much and I've built her with Joe Kosinski and we took her such a long way from what was written to what we made... And I'm really excited to see what happens to that character when put into the real world. I think it's an interesting concept."
Wilde also explained in the interview that the reason for the delay in the production of 'Tron 3' was simply getting the right story, and how a lot of development was made in the past year that enabled them to finally find something that they believed would excite the fans.
'Tron 3' is expected to open sometime in 2017.
